The Fashion Show featured many bespoke and couture Goth and Steampunk fashion of all genres for men and women. Georgian Dandys and Gowns, Neo-Victorian, Mediaval, Edwardian, PVC, Latex, Gothic Lolita, Geisha Goth, Pinstripe and Cybergoth were all on the catwalk. Designers included, Whyte Phantom, Catlayst Latex, (who showcased their Tim Burton Inspired Corpse Bride dress) Falcieri designs, Engineers of Desire, Spank plus many many more. Outfits from the catwalk and fashion from other Goth and Steampunk artisans were also available to buy at Bram’s Cornucopia of Curiosities three day market. The show was in support of St Catherine’s Hospice and whick included a charity raffle with unique and one-off prize from one of the catwalk designers.
The Bram Stoker International Film Festival celebrates the life of Bram Stoker and his legacy through four days and nights of Gothic decadence including the highly anticipated and world famous Bram Stoker European Vampires Ball now in it's fourth year. The festival hosted their first ever Alternative Fashion show, the festival partnered with Spirit Model Management, the UK's largest Alternative Modelling Agency and we supplied many of our top gothic models.
The event will be held annually during the festival and the aim is for the Alternative Fashion show to become the most prestigious and professional show of it's kind in Europe.
The..
Whitby is famous for holding the annual Gothic weekends and attracts thousands of visitors per year, also infamous as the town where Bram Stoker started writing his novel 'Dracula' it was whilst staying in the small North East coast fishing town that Bram Stoker found the inspiration to begin creating the most famous figure in horror film and literature, DRACULA. The legacy left by Bram Stoker certainly started the Victorian Gothic culture, continuing to this present day in Whitby.
The Manchester Alternative and Burlesque Fair
Coco has been modelling for a year and got signed to Spirit after doing only a couple of shoots with some reputable alternative style photographers. She specialises in 1950s, rockabilly work but has also done general alternative shoots, including steampunk, latex and lolita.
Her modelling career has been a bit of a whirlwind; after losing 6.5 stone she was spotted at a tattoo convention and decided to try her luck at getting signed by an agency. Since being signed by Spirit she has gone from strength to strength. Over the last year, she has been featured in an average of three magazines a month, done promo modellign at Liverpool Tattoo Convention, walked at three high profile catwalks and models for over thirty designers and companies.
She said: “Being signed to such a reputable modelling agency as Spirit has really been a catalyst for me becoming such a high profile model. Sapphira’s invaluable advice and networking with the other models has enabled me to learn so much about the modelling world and has been a massive factor in how successful I have become.”
Now in it’s third year, the Manchester Alternative and Burlesque Fair has become a must-attend event on the alternative calender. Based at Sound Control, next to Oxford Road Station, the quirky venue is chock full of exhibitors and stalls to suit all tastes in the alternative and fetish scene.
The venue is conveniently split into two levels with upstairs being more of a vintage, steampunk and rockabilly vibe but the “Cellar of Sin” caters more for the darker side of alternative culture with latex clothing, fetish wear and sex toys.
Not only is there a dazzling array of goods and quirky items, the fair also promises a fantastic day’s entertainment with regular burlesque shows and fashion shows from latex and alternative designers. September’s fair showcased an amazing collection from Eustrasia latex featuring Spirit’s own Whiplash and Nina Dateschidze. The show was really haunting and had echoes of a summer solstice at a mystical Glastonbury Tor. Downstairs saw an entertaining pole dancing extravaganza from ‘Blush’ which saw many people making their pole dancing debut. Although it must have been nerve-wracking for the performers, it was an amzing show and it really opened the audience’s eyes to what a beautiful art form it can be.
However the main attraction had to be the amazing variety of lovely things there
were to buy. Many stall-holders had been to the fair before, such as Kalandra Wheatcroft who owns ‘Kalandra J Designs.’ Kalandra makes a fantastic range of retro millinery, which I am proud to say I have modelled! She has been to every Manchester fair so far and it is the fantastic atmospeher that keeps bringing her back. “I love the fact that it supports local businesses and offers a really valuable opportunity for designers to network with other creatives.”

Aside from the usual clothes, shoes and accessories designers, there were also several photographers and artists exhibiting. Natasha Aldred is a freelance illustrater and she brought an amazing collection of greetings cards and prints to sell on her stall. Natasha graduated a year go after studying a degree in illustration and specialises in an urban slightly macabre and quirky style with a pale colour pallett. She finds the fair to be a real inspiration to her “I just leave meeting new people and watching some of the performances. It really stimulates my creative processes and imagination.”
After the success of the Face of the Fair competition at the Birmingham show, Spirit
also had a big part to play in the Manchester fair. Models Collette Von Tora, Strawberry Venom, Abbie Mac, Frankie Lou and Cat Sleigh strutted their stuff around the venue, wearing fabulous creations by Bbarbarella, including leather skirts and bikinis and dramatic feather boleros. Coco Fierce also greeted guests at the entrance of the venue and interviewed stall holders for this review.
I suppose the most impressive aspect of the fair is the fantastic atmosphere that permeates around the venue. From the really friendly and approachable Heresy and Heelz staff to the guests, everybody just seems to really enjoy it and there is real buzz about the place. Definitely an event in the alternative calendar not to be missed!
The Fair has become so popular there are now added venues throughout the UK in 2013 including Derby and Sheffield. See www.thealternativeandburlesquefair.com for more details

Here comes the Tattooed Bride!
Our model Terri De-lis Altilar is getting her fair share of publicity this year. Kicking off with a photographic feature in Alt Fashion Magazine for our latex fashion shoot in January to then being one of the stars of the catwalk show at Skin Deep's The Great British Tattoo Show for us in April. Terri has also graced the pages of Love it magazine and to top it off came fourth in the Miss Leeds contest in March- the only tattooed model in the contest.
Tonight Terri will be the star of BBC3's popular reality programme 'Don't Tell the Bride'. Will it all be tantrums and tiara's on the day? Tune in at 9pm to find out!
Terri says- “I don’t believe that anyone should have to fall in line and follow suit, I believe that everyone is unique and everyone should be who they want to be and not what others want them to be. I want to represent everybody that is not considered the norm and show that you should be proud to be who you are no matter how you appear to others."
Terri will be walking at the Bram Stoker Film Festival Fashion show.

Peaked Apparel
"Peaked Apparel was founded by Spirit Model's Conor Peek and Dannii B in May of this
year and is already going viral! 'Peaked' have a unique way of releasing their products which is proving to be very popular with the younger generation in this new digital age. The deigners create a selection of items digitally firstly to get customers attention and create hype, once they have feedback from the customer on what they want to purchase, they then release it on a certain date! This technique proved very successful last month with the release of the 'Stay Peaked' Shades which sold out in the first four minutes including the pre-orders of their new PKD Camo tee.
Recently Peaked was approached by international dubstep artist, Dubba Jonny in search for a clothing sponsor and since then they've also taken the metal band 'March' on, March which will be filming their new music video next month!
"There's lots in store for Peaked Apparel so keep an eye out for this one!"

Model Competition Winner
Aside from modelling I love my paintbrushes! My artwork is
mainly based on fetish and nude pictures of lovely ladies. Eventually I
would like to work as a makeup and prosthetics artist for film and
performance, I like to be kept busy and have learnt that if i'm doing
something creative I'm happy.
Do you have any previous modelling exeperience?
A little, I began modelling in Autumn last year so i'm still
relatively new to it all. After getting over the initial nerves during
the first couple of shoots I quickly came to realise how much I enjoy
being in front of the camera and so it felt natural to start doing it
more.
What are your ambitions for your modelling career?
How do you feel about winning the competition?
I am so happy and excited to have won, the applicants that I
saw on the competition day all looked great so after getting over the
intial shock I feel really lucky. I had a really good day out at the
Alternative and Burlesque fair so this news was the icing on top!
Domina Sin's profile will go live on the New Faces page in October.
